‘Right-winger’ David Broder?

Shoved into the internet tubes on February 6, 2007 by Hegemonic Pundit

Perusing the treasure trove of blog posts and latest news at tailrank, I found this odd collection of invective from left-wing bloggers. It appears that anyone who criticises liberals, democrats, (and probably) marxists, socialists, and all manner of other assorted commie-pinko-losers is to be labeled a liar and a, wait for it… “right-winger”.

Thus the scion of washington journalism, David Broder, is now a right-winger.

Impossible you say? David Broder a goose-stepping neo-con nazi? Yeah, it is funny. We know how dissent is treated amongst the enlightened ones of the left wing. It is smothered swiftly, mercilessly, and ruthlessly.

AMERICAblog says that, “It’s time for David Broder to apologize or retire, because his right-wing rants are getting ridiculous at this point.”

What did David Broder say to receive this most heinious of labels? Nothing John Kerry hasn’t vocalized a dozen times to be sure.

Well, AMERICAblog is quoting Oliver Willis who says this of Broder,

David Broder, the most insider of Washington insiders, perpetuates a lie and smears the Democratic party in “reporting” on this past weekend’s meeting of the DNC.

And he is referring to this Washington Post article where David Broder says this,

One of the losers in the weekend oratorical marathon was retired Gen. Wesley Clark, who repeatedly invoked the West Point motto of “Duty, Honor, Country,” forgetting that few in this particular audience have much experience with, or sympathy for, the military. ~washingtonpost.com

No surprise. Broder says nothing new. And yet the reaction of the left-wing is vehement demonization. David Broder literally steps in the way of a stream of BDS, (Bush Derangement Syndrome).

That’s just a boldfaced lie by Broder, no two ways about it. I happened to be in attendance at the speech in question, just a stone’s throw away from General Clark when he gave it. What David Broder is saying here is an absolute lie.

David Broder is a filthy liar, and the Washington Post ought to correct the slander he’s published in their pages. For too long the Republican party and the conservative movement has smeared Democrats and liberals as not supportive of the troops, when time and time again it is the right who does not look out for their interests as Democrats and liberals time and time again fight for good foreign policy, veterans benefits, and the basics of body armor for our troops.

Again I say, David Broder is lying. ~Oliver Willis

Again, the redefinition of the word lie. You can’t hardly say anything these days without liberals calling it a lie.

And yet David Broder is not pulling this from thin air. History and cold hard facts are readily available to prove that Democrats don’t, “have much experience with, or sympathy for, the military.”

There’s John Kerry for example. For whom any soldier stuck in Iraq is too dumb or too disadvantaged to get a college education and a real job.

“You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.” ~John Kerry, expressing some sort of sympathy for the military?

(See him speak!)

We also have the numerous examples of Vietnam era leftists spitting on soldiers, accusing them of war crimes, of killing babies, or being the worst sort of dupes and monsters. Even today, this attitude prevails in the media and the left. AKA William Arkin:

But it is the United States, and the recent NBC report is just an ugly reminder of the price we pay for a mercenary – oops sorry, volunteer – force that thinks it is doing the dirty work. ~washingtonpost.com

There’s just oodles and oodles of these kinds of examples from mainstream so-called moderate sources. If we were to delve into the dark inner recesses of the left-wing blogcaves, well, then we would actually have numerous examples of the equivalent of e-spitting on soldiers.

My favorite quote from Broder’s article is Edwards laying it on thick. I mean THICK.

Edwards combined his Iraq message with a version of his stump speech from the last presidential campaign, evoking the plight of anonymous forgotten Americans like the “8-year-old little girl [who] will go to bed hungry . . . because her father lost his job.” ~washingtonpost.com
