‘Enhancing our reputation’ or enhancing our vulnerability? Democrats have a strange way of thinking about the world. As I’ve said many many times before, the progressive meme disables the brains of leftists. There’s got to be some explanation.
Even when our troops are kicking ass and taking names, Democrats are busy sabotaging all of their hard work.

Our soldiers capture the enemy, then Democrats want to let them go.
The Democrats and Republicans have long viewed differently the issue of how we deal with terrorists. Democrats have advocated filling up our legal system with terrorists and trying them in a court of law. Republicans, on the other hand, have treated them as enemies who must be dealt with by the military, either killed on the battlefield or tried by military tribunals. Those views are about to collide on the floor of the United States House of Representatives. ~redstate.com
Essentially democrats want to grant every captured terrorist full rights as U.S. citizens in our our courts. Yes, so that the trial lawyers can take a whack at getting them out of jail and onto our streets. Brilliant.
New Democrat slogan for 2008? Terrorists: innocent until proven guilty.
Key House Democrats plan to insist the Pentagon shut down the detention camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and are contemplating the relocation of many of the 385 or so remaining terrorist suspects to military brigs along the East Coast — including Quantico, Va., and Charleston, S.C.
“It sets us back in the war on terrorism to be maintaining Guantanamo,” said Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.), who’s heading an investigation of the facility for the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
“It will enhance our reputation to close it down and to apply our system of justice to all of these detainees,” he added. ~dyn.politico.com
Have Democrats thought this through at all? I don’t think they have. What kind of media circus will exist around the trials of these captured terrorists? If they think that Guantanamo is a headache wait until Khalid Sheik Mohammed’s defense attorney’s get started.
“But you’ve got to distinguish among these people,” he said. “We have to prove they actually did something that was designed to hurt American citizens.”
A senior administration official, also speaking on the condition of anonymity, said he was puzzled by the Democrats’ frequent discussion of closing Guantanamo.
“While we want to bring these guys to trial as quickly as possible, where do Democrats believe we should keep Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the 9/11 plot?” the official asked. “Which American city will they choose to place America’s most wanted terrorists?”~dyn.politico.com
Secondly, is it a good idea to make our American cities targets of terror by having captured Al Qaeda there? Will these trials be public? What better target.
To defeat and retreat we can add capture and release.
To Democrats we are simply not at war. “Democrats craft Iraq troop withdrawal deadline”
Asked about the furor that could erupt in local communities chosen to receive the detainees, Moran noted that the brigs were secure and that most of the detainees had not “been involved in any combat.”
“Many of them have never engaged in any act of violence,” Moran said. “Some of them hold beliefs that are anathema to ours, but we have a tradition that we don’t punish people for their beliefs but rather for their actions.” ~dyn.politico.com
You see, they’re not terrorists, they’re political prisoners.
