Gore testified to congress, “imploring,” them to save the planet! Saying that the planet, “has a fever,” –still he doesn’t feel that it’s worth the personal effort to, “save the baby,” as he puts it.
I want to testify today about what I believe is a planetary emergency—a crisis that threatens the survival of our civilization and the habitability of the Earth. ~epw.senate.gov
Threatens our very survival?!
…”The planet has a fever,” Gore said. “If your baby has a fever, you go to the doctor. If the doctor says you need to intervene here, you don’t say, `Well, I read a science fiction novel that told me it’s not a problem.’ If the crib’s on fire, you don’t speculate that the baby is flame retardant. You take action.”
…”Our world faces a true planetary emergency. I know the phrase sounds shrill, and I know it’s a challenge to the moral imagination.” ~breitbart.com
Kudos to Sen. James Inhofe for presenting Gore with an opportunity to put his money where his mouth is. Not unexpectedly he fails the test.
WASHINGTON, DC – Former Vice President Al Gore refused to take a “Personal Energy Ethics Pledge†today to consume no more energy than the average American household. The pledge was presented to Gore by Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, during today’s global warming hearing.
Senator Inhofe showed Gore a film frame from “An Inconvenient Truth†where it asks viewers: “Are you ready to change the way you live?â€
…“Are you willing to make a commitment here today by taking this pledge to consume no more energy for use in your residence than the average American household by one year from today?†Senator Inhofe asked.
Senator Inhofe then presented Vice President Gore with the following “Personal Energy Ethics Pledge:
As a believer:
- that human-caused global warming is a moral, ethical, and spiritual issue affecting our survival;
- that home energy use is a key component of overall energy use;
- that reducing my fossil fuel-based home energy usage will lead to lower greenhouse gas emissions; and
- that leaders on moral issues should lead by example;
I pledge to consume no more energy for use in my residence than the average American household by March 21, 2008.â€

Are we not in the midst of a, “planetary emergency,” that will require enormous sacrifice from all of us? Apparently not. The truth is that this is all a smokescreen. A war based on lies. Blaming industry and capitalism for destroying the planet is not a new premise. It’s a marxist one. Which is why the program for ‘saving the planet’ contains so many familiar designs.
After all, we have taken on problems of this scope before. When England and then America and our allies rose to meet the threat of global Fascism, together we won two wars simultaneously in Europe and the Pacific.
This is a moral moment of similar magnitude. This is not ultimately about any scientific discussion or political dialogue. It is about who we are as human beings and our capacity to transcend our limitations and rise to meet this challenge. ~epw.senate.gov
Gore has no intention of reducing his upperclass robber baron carbon footprint. Obviously he feels that the emergency isn’t that urgent. Except for the rest of us. But here’s a case where the intelligence is faulty but Gore is calling for something like a global war on global warming.
Let me ask something, when is it not in our interest to do all we can to help this planet? pull your head out of your collective asses and pitch in, damnit. My world isn’t going to be spoiled cause you want to much free market cause no one is willing to say “I’ll walk today instead of drive”. Despicable.
derek,
It’s not a question of whether or not we shouldn’t pollute or should care about our planet. It’s a question of fearmongering and lies.
Do you walk instead of drive derek?
