What brings peace and prosperity? Well, if you’re a liberal democrat in control of congress you naturally believe that tax increases will usher in a new age of utopia and plenty.

Largest tax increase in history… Prediction fulfilled. The question was never if they would raise taxes, but when and how much. Turns out the time is now and the amount is astronomical.

The Largest Tax Increase in History. The revenue numbers in the Democrat budget increase taxes by $392.5 billion over 5 years, compared with retaining provisions of the 2001 and 2003 tax laws that are currently in place. Taxes increase by $231 billion in 2012 alone, which is even greater than the $153-billion surplus the budget claims. ~budget.house.gov (pdf)

Budget surplus? Uh, when did this happen? Well, before democrats gained control that’s for sure.

…Tax revenues are climbing twice as fast as the administration predicted in February, so fast that the budget deficit could actually decline this year.

The main reason is a big spike in corporate tax receipts, which have nearly tripled since 2003, as well as what appears to be a big increase in individual taxes on stock market profits and executive bonuses. ~nytimes.com

Sadly, Democrats are already looking to spend that money and raise the cost of government even higher. Fiscal discipline. Seems that is only a campaign ploy.
