Desired Gun Control
Supporting the troops but not the mission? Many liberals seem coy about exactly what it is the troops do to deserve their support. But some are not so shy about getting ‘up-in-arms’ about honoring a fallen Navy Seal.
Family and supporters are building a statue to honor Navy Seal Danny Dietz killed in Afghanistan fighting Al Qaeda, perhaps on the trail of Osama Bin Laden himself. Where liberals have claimed to support both the troops and the mission, in contrast to Iraq. So what’s the problem?
Danny’s family said construction on the memorial will begin Independence Day. It will stand near the two elementary schools Danny attended. His family wants to inspire children.”I want them to believe in their country, ” said Dan Dietz, Sr. “I think there should be more of this for our heroes who have lost their life.” ~myfoxcolorado.com
Well, the problem is that honoring Danny Dietz will harm the children.
Dietz was killed almost two years ago during a Taliban ambush in Afghanistan. His family worked to raise the money and find the right spot for the statue: Berry Park is just a few blocks away from the home in which he grew up.
“I’m just really excited to be able to go to this park and see a likeness of my son,” said Danny’s mother Cindy Dietz.
However, some neighbors are concerned about the children who will walk by it because Dietz is holding his automatic rifle in the statue. One of the neighbors would not go on camera, but sent an statement saying, “We encourage the community to carefully consider the appropriateness of the proposed location. This has been, and will remain our sole intent.” ~myfoxcolorado.com
Huh? God forbid children see a gun in the hands of a soldier who died in battle. The real issue here is an unfortunate and irrational belief about guns.
Cindy said she doesn’t understand the controversy. For her, the statue was a way to remember her son. “I don’t believe it promotes violence. It’s an American hero who gave his life for all of us,” she said. ~myfoxcolorado.com
Guns are part of the problem in the normalized liberal doctrine. Up until recent years gun control had been a visible and cardinal part of the liberal dogma. Will the recent silence during national elections continue? Or will Democrats decide that they cannot be silent about this most evil of mechanisms?
The animus against this statue is based on the illogical theory that all violence is wrong. Thus a weapon, a device created for the purpose of delivering violence, is wrong as well. Perhaps we can blame the adherents of the theory of non-violent conflict resolution for seeing nothing else.
You must read this account of why Danny Dietz should be honored with his gun in his hands.
The pair were part of an elite team of four SEALs on a reconnaissance mission “tasked with finding a key Taliban leader in mountainous terrain near Asadabad, Afghanistan,” according to a Navy news release.
On June 28, 2005, “They were spotted by anti-coalition sympathizers, who immediately reported their position to Taliban fighters. A fierce gunbattle ensued between the four SEALs and a much larger enemy force with superior tactical position,” the Navy release said.
The SEALs radioed for help, and a responding Chinook helicopter was shot down by a rocket-propelled grenade, killing eight more SEALs and eight Army NightStalkers. It was the worst single combat loss for the SEALs since the Vietnam War.
According to the Navy, “Despite this terrible loss, the SEALS on the ground continued to fight. Although mortally wounded, Axelson and Dietz held their position and fought for the safety of their teammates despite a hail of gunfire. Their actions cost them their lives, but gave one of the other SEALs an opportunity to escape.”
That SEAL, who has not been publicly identified, was sheltered by a friendly Afghan, then turned over to the U.S. military.
The Dietz family was informed of their son’s death on July 4. They will receive his medal two days after the five-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks that sparked the war in Afghanistan.
“He was tremendously brave, and he stuck around for his buddies,” said Danny’s father, Dan Dietz, of Littleton. “He was fighting all the time through this. I’m very proud that I’m his father. And I miss him tremendously.”
At the ceremony in Washington - where his parents will stand alongside his widow, Maria - Dan Dietz said “we’re just going to celebrate Danny.”
And when he holds the medal, he said, “It will remind me of his dedication, his strength, and his loyalty. And his just . . . just his sheer guts.” ~rockymountainnews.com

I never cease to be amazed by the insanity of Liberalism and their pathological fear of guns.
IMHO every child in America should be taught how to care for and fire a gun and learn that defending yourself and your country are honorable actions.
America and all that she represents would not exist if it were not for guns and only guns (and really big bombs) will keep her free – that and keeping Liberal for running this country into the ground.
May God bless the memory & family of Danny Dietz.
