Logically this honor should go to the former Soviet Union but for the left no Soviet crime is too big or too small to ignore. Only the Enemy, the Great Satan, the generator and sustainer of capitalist hegemony in the world (which is yearning to breath the free air of socialism by the way) should be called the worst…
No less than the Arch-bishop of Canterbury, the modern voice of Christianity, has declared the U.S. to be the worst imperialist of all time!
THE Archbishop of Canterbury has said that the United States wields its power in a way that is worse than Britain during its imperial heyday.
Rowan Williams claimed that America’s attempt to intervene overseas by “clearing the decks” with a “quick burst of violent action” had led to “the worst of all worlds”. ~timesonline.co.uk
Perhaps we are all going to hell over here in the colonies. But then the Arch-Bishop probably doesn’t believe in a literal hell so what does it matter?
Funny, I would put the worst imperialist in history to be Poland. So far, they’ve done little more than be conquered by everyone they come across. Pretty shoddy imperialism, there.
Jokes aside, I think that, again, you seem to be attacking their superficial argument without actually touching the substance. Is the United States abusing its power? Should it be more noninterventionist than its current foreign policy? These are all valid questions, that are more likely to be raised if the Archbishop of Canterbury asks a more extreme question than if he simply theorizes, as I do.
Wait… what does him not believing in hell have to do with anything…??? non sequitur…
Addendum:
The archbishop also believes his religion is based on “legend”. So the archbishop makes political pronouncements on the basis that his false religion gives him some kind of authority to make such declarations.
