The American Proletariat is markedly pro-capitalist, libertarian leaning, and conservative in general.

Proletariat:

The proletariat (from Latin proles, “offspring”) is a term used to identify a lower social class; a member of such a class is proletarian. Originally it was identified as those people who had no wealth other than their sons. The term was initially used in a derogatory sense, until Karl Marx used it as a sociological term to refer to the working class. ~en.wikipedia.org

In marxist theory and radical presidential politics (no names for safety’s sake) the proletariat are the whole reason for “fundamentally transforming America.” Unfortunately for the entire heretofore history of the United States America’s proletariat have been the exact opposite of radical marxist theory.

The working class of America are not natural radicals.

Marx himself argued that it was the goal of the proletariat itself to displace the capitalist system with socialism, changing the social relationships underpinning the class system and then developing into a communist society in which: “..the free development of each is the condition for the free development of all” (Communist Manifesto).

Marx makes a clear distinction of proletariat as salaried workers, which he sees a progressive class, with Lumpen proletariat, “rag-proletariat”, the poorest and outcasts of the society, such as beggars, tricksters, entertainers, buskers, criminals and prostitutes, which he considers a retrograde class. ~en.wikipedia.org

Alexis de Tocqueville wrote of America that:

In no other country in the world is the love of property keener or more alert than in the United States, and nowhere else does the majority display less inclination toward doctrines which in any way threaten the way property is owned.
