Liberals will retreat

This is why all debate with the left about Iraq and the war on terror is useless. They say that it’s only Iraq that we must retreat from, and yet they began by protesting the war in Afghanistan and once they achieve strategic defeat in Iraq they will immediately begin fomenting retreat from Afghanistan as well.

Katrina Vander Heuval:

Last month, the bipartisan Rand Corporation concluded in an important report that the very notion of a “war on terror” is counterproductive, and that intelligence and police cooperation should be the centerpiece of our strategy. More recently, New York Times columnist Tom Friedman — no milquetoast when it comes to using military force — criticized the Dems’ position on Afghanistan as ill-conceived “bumper sticker politics.” Friedman quoted a valuable Time article by Afghan expert Rory Stewart. Reporting from Kabul, Stewart explains: “A troop increase is likely to inflame Afghan nationalism because Afghans are more anti-foreign than we acknowledge, and the support for our presence in the insurgency areas is declining … The more responsibility we take in Afghanistan, the more we undermine the credibility and responsibility of the Afghan government and encourage it to act irresponsibly.”

Stewart, a longtime observer of Afghan politics, makes clear that the temptation to throw more military forces at the problem may do more harm — to our security, to the Afghan people who are already angry about mounting civilian casualties, and to the stability of a region whose underlying conflicts require political resolution not more US or NATO troops.  ~alternet.org

Liberal prejudice and hate

This man is an idiot. He succeeds in displaying his liberal arrogance and haughty pride. It’s as if Mr. Eason believes that he is the state and is therefore entitled to judge who should and shouldn’t be honored by the state.

RALEIGH – L.F. Eason III gave up the only job he’d ever had rather than lower a flag to honor former U.S. Sen. Jesse Helms.

Eason, a 29-year veteran of the state Department of Agriculture, instructed his staff at a small Raleigh lab not to fly the U.S. or North Carolina flags at half-staff Monday, as called for in a directive to all state agencies by Gov. Mike Easley.

When a superior ordered the lab to follow the directive, Eason decided to retire rather than pay tribute to Helms. After several hours’ delay, one of Eason’s employees hung the flags at half-staff. ~newsobserver.com

Naked liberal prejudice and hate.

This tells you how much liberals overvalue their own personal political opinions. Normally you wouldn’t fail to honor the death of those you merely politically disagreed with.

Congressional approval at 9%

Lowest ever.

The percentage of voters who give Congress good or excellent ratings has fallen to single digits for the first time in Rasmussen Reports tracking history. This month, just 9% say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category.  ~rasmussenreports.com

Pelosi, Reid, congratulations.

How Dems spend

This is how Democrats spend money. Like drunken sailors. (My apologies to any drunken sailors who might take offense.)

Some of the Democratic missteps started soon after planning for the event began. The Democratic National Convention Committee decided not to take cheap office space and instead rented top-quality offices in downtown Denver at $100,000 a month, only to need less than half the space, which it then filled with rental furniture at $50,000 a month. And in a costly misstep, the Denver host committee, early on, told corporate donors that their contributions were not tax-deductible, rather than to encourage donations by saying that the tax-exempt application was pending and expected to be approved.  ~nytimes.com

It’s a good thing that Republicans gave up on fiscal responsibility and let Democrats take over congress eh?

Obama wins!

Hilterian propaganda

Just when I thought that Democrats couldn’t be any more venally idiotic Harry Reid goes and opens his mouth.

Harry Reid: Energy companies use “the old Hitler lie”

He accused the coal industry of using “the old Hitler lie — when you say things long enough people start believing them.”

The comparison of the coal industry to Nazis came before his keynote speech, which began and ended with references to “the Jewish sages of yesteryear.”

A statement worthy of Goebbels himself. Corrupt Democrat Senator Reid makes us all sick with the perpetuation of his culture of corruption.

Democrats seem bent on destroying America. Knocking all our energy supplies out from under us will effectively cripple our economy. This is fine with the left because capitalism is the enemy. Our economy is based on oppression and exploitation according to them and stopping that is worth destroying the country because something better (ie ‘change’) will replace it.

This isn’t some fringe character, some crazy uncle that one has in the attic. This is one of the Democratic Party’s leadership explaining why he and his party will never allow for extensive increases in domestic supply for coal and oil, the two leading sources of energy in the US, along with natural gas. “Coal makes us sick. Oil makes us sick. It’s global warming. It’s ruining our country, it’s ruining our world. We’ve got to stop using fossil fuel.” ~hotair.com

We can go back to Harry Reid’s inadvertent admission that repeating (the global warming) lies will eventually make people believe it. The corrupt Senator sure knows his Nazi propaganda tactics doesn’t he?

Nationalizing Industries

The libs are feeling their oats. After all, they control two-thirds of the Federal Government and reasonably expect their messiah to seize control of the third in the next election, why not begin explaining what you will do with all that power? Like nationalizing the oil industry and the internet for starters.

Should the Internet be owned and maintained by the government, just like the highways? Vint Cerf, the “father of the Internet” and Google’s Internet evangelist, made this radical suggestion while he was sitting next to me on a panel yesterday about national tech policy at the Personal Democracy Forum.

…I tried to press Mr. Cerf on how exactly such a scheme would work without making Internet service even less competitive than it is today. He offered that the government could put the actual running of the service out to competitive bidding. It’s still a bad idea.  ~techcrunch.com

There’s no better way to destroy something than to nationalize it. Still the libs see this as a great idea most of the time and they’re getting more vocal.

Among other things, the Democrats called for the government to own refineries so it could better control the flow of the oil supply.  ~foxnews.com

HotAir has video of Maxine Waters and another rube Dem explaining their penchent for pure marxist thievery. Wow. Jaw dropper. Democrats believe this?

Hugh Hewitt quotes James Madison

“In a word, as a man is said to have a right to his property, he may be equally said to have a property in his rights.  Where an excess of power prevails, property of no sort is duly respected. No man is safe in his opinions, his person, his faculties, or his possessions. . . . Government is instituted to protect property of every sort; as well that which lies in the various rights of individuals, as that which the term particularly expresses. This being the end of government, that alone is a just government, which impartially secures to every man, whatever is his own.”

Commie-lib thugs

I’m sometimes still amazed at the brutal and brazen nature of today’s American left. I am beginning to think that a nasty and brutal socialist dictatorship is not out of the question in a few years here in the United States. Indeed they get more violent and more radical every year it seems. Via Right Wing news

Elaborate plans are underway to encircle and “shut down” the Republican National Convention at St. Paul’s Xcel Energy Center in September. The strategies and tactics involved could come straight from a guerrilla warfare manual.

Anarchist groups with ominous names — the RNC Welcoming Committee, Unconventional Action — have announced a “three-tier strategy” to cut off the Xcel Center. The steps include “blockading” streets and freeways, “immobilizing” delegates’ transportation and “blocking” bridges to impede delegates’ access to the center.

The plan also features a “swarm, seize, stay” strategy. After dividing the city into “sectors,” protesters propose to “seize space” through both “hard technical blockades” and “softer, more mobile blockades” such as congestion, according to anarchist websites.

Some demonstrators may chain themselves together in public thoroughfares, while others operate in “waves” designed to “spread out police both geographically and tactically.”  ~startribune.com
