In his biography of Barack Obama, David Mendell writes about Obama’s life as a “secret smoker” and how he “went to great lengths to conceal the habit.” But what about Obama’s secret political life? It turns out that Obama’s childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was a communist.

In his books, Obama admits attending “socialist conferences” and coming into contact with Marxist literature. But he ridicules the charge of being a “hard-core academic Marxist,” which was made by his colorful and outspoken 2004 U.S. Senate opponent, Republican Alan Keyes.  ~aim.org

As yet another example of how disastrous and empty socialist price controls are Hugo Chavez has been of enormous benefit.

CARACAS — President Hugo Chavez threatened on Sunday to seize control of businesses caught hoarding products, and set his sights on Empresas Polar — Venezuela’s largest food producer and distributor.

If officials discover that companies sit on goods for months to later sell them at inflated prices, they “should be seized and taken under government control,” Mr. Chavez said.

He called Polar a “clear example” of a business that could be taken over.

The Venezuelan leader’s threats came as the country struggles with sporadic shortages of some basic foods, including sugar, cooking oil, milk, black beans, eggs and chicken. ~online.wsj.com

Woman Dies After Fall From UN Building

UNITED NATIONS (AP) – A woman who worked for the United Nations died Sunday after falling from the 19th floor of the U.N.’s Secretariat Building, authorities said.

Police and U.N. security officers at the scene, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media, said the woman in her 40s had jumped from a window after showing up to work early in the morning.

“A U.N. agency staff member died after falling from the 19th floor of the U.N. Secretariat Building,” U.N. deputy spokeswoman Marie Okabe said. “At this time there is no suspicion of foul play.”

Okabe said U.N. officials would not confirm her identity even after her next of kin were notified.

The official cause of death was to be determined by the medical examiner.

U.N. staff rushed to the scene and escorted investigators to the rear area of the building, where yellow tape was put up around the woman’s body. Some U.N. staff were blocked from leaving the building just after the discovery.

In 1982, a 57-year-old senior U.N. official who had just resigned from the Office of Financial Services and was reported to have been upset about his failing health plunged to his death from the 18th floor of the Secretariat building. ~apnews.myway.com

Michelle Obama hasn’t been proud of America in at least 26 years?

That’s what she said today, if this quote is accurate.

“For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country,” she told a Milwaukee crowd today, “because it feels like hope is making a comeback.” ~hotair.com

This is typical because liberals are not proud of America, in fact, liberals despise America and everything it has thus far stood for. Liberals are only proud of the future America they want to create, the one which is no longer recognizable as America, but is the anti-America.

Liberals are working toward creating the anti-America. Also called socialism. Yes, that is basically what she is saying when she says it, “feels like hope is making a comeback.”

Via Flopping Aces… I love it when politicians are honest. It usually doesn’t last long though and you can be sure that she’ll backtrack and ‘clarify’ this remark.

I’m sure that’s not all she’d be willing to garnish our wages for. There are undoubtedly hundreds if not thousands of things that would be for ‘our own good’ that need funding.

Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday she might be willing to garnish the wages of workers who refuse to buy health insurance to achieve coverage for all Americans.

The New York senator has criticized presidential rival Barack Obama for pushing a health plan that would not require universal coverage. Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed on ABC’s “This Week,” she said: “I think there are a number of mechanisms” that are possible, including “going after people’s wages, automatic enrollment.”

Clinton said such measures would apply only to workers who can afford health coverage but refuse to buy it, which puts undue pressure on hospitals and emergency rooms. With her proposals for subsidies, she said, “it will be affordable for everyone.”

Clinton also suggested that Obama would be more susceptible to Republican attack ads in a general election because he has not been scrutinized for years as she has.

“I’ve been through the Republican attacks over and over again,” she said. When Obama was elected to the Senate from Illinois in 2004, she said, he “didn’t face anyone who ran attack ads” comparable to those aimed at her.

That’s what Democrats (socialists) mean when they say, “we’re all in this together.” It means that everyone shares the pain for their ungodly utopian socialist schemes.

All Federal funds going to the City of Beserkeley should be immediately revoked…

BERKELEY — Hey-hey, ho-ho, the Marines in Berkeley have got to go. That’s the message from the Berkeley City Council, which voted 6-3, with Gordon Wozniak, Betty Olds and Kriss Worthington dissenting, to tell the Marines that its Shattuck Avenue recruiting station “is not welcome in the city, and if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome intruders.”

It also voted 7-2, with Wozniak and Olds dissenting, to explore enforcing its law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation against the Marines and to encourage the women’s peace group Code Pink to protest in front of the station.

In a separate item, the council voted 8-1 to give Code Pink a designated parking space in front of the recruiting station once a week for six months and a free sound permit for protesting once a week from noon to 4 p.m.  ~insidebayarea.com

Global Warming is merely a new term for an old ideology. Socialism postulates that capitalism is responsible for all the evils existent on planet earth. Those who ardently advocate the Global Warming agenda coincidentally advocate the same solutions to the ‘capitalism problem’.

In a long, and interesting speech, he [Bill Clinton] characterized what the U.S. and other industrialized nations need to do to combat global warming this way: “We just have to slow down our economy and cut back our greenhouse gas emissions ’cause we have to save the planet for our grandchildren.”   ~blogs.abcnews.com

Indeed, this is precisely what the Global Warming Agenda is all about: combating capitalism.
