Foodcare Reform

I’ve made the argument that it makes as much sense for the government to take over the food supply as it does Healthcare. Alas, we all knew that they’d eventually get to that too– and it looks like they are beginning to get to it with HR 2749, the ‘Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009′.

Our friends (and I use the word loosely) Waxman and Dingle have come up with legislation that typifies the sort of overreach and ominous tyranny indicative of all the legislation they are coming up with in congress now that they are the only party in power.

The one thing we know about the era of Obama is that every aspect of our lives will ultimately be under the tight control of the government whether we want it or not– and it’s all for our own good!

But don’t take my word for it. Natural News declares that this bill requires immediate opposition, a blogger at foodfreedom describes it as, “Totalitarian Control of the Food Supply,” a DailyKos diary calls it fascist (truly it doesn’t take much to be called fascist at DailyKos but I thought I’d throw it in there), and Stop socialism now says, “Fed Takeover Of All Food Production Almost Done!”

Some of the disconcerting and dire provisions within the bill include:

- HR 2749 will require the mandatory imposition of annual registration fees in the amount of $500 upon any “facility” that holds, processes, or manufactures food. Even though “farms” are exempt, the bill’s definition of “farm” is so scarcely defined that folks selling cheeses, breads, and other products from their farms or at the farmers market would be required to pay this fee, potentially driving many small producers and start-ups out of business, especially during tough times.

- HR 2749 will give FDA the power to directly regulate the methods by which crops are raised and harvested, essentially handing complete and total control of every farming operation to the federal government.

- HR 2749 will give FDA the power to halt the movement of all food in a particular geographic area in the event of a food contamination scare or outbreak. The provision directly includes “prohibiting or restricting the movement of food or of any vehicle being used or that has been used to transport or hold such food within the geographic area”, effectively shutting down any and all local food sources, farmers markets, or cooperatives within that area, even if their products have no connection to the actual contamination source.

- HR 2749 will give limitless power to FDA to conduct random searches of the business records of small farmers and local food providers without a warrant or even the slightest hint of evidence that there has been any sort of violation. It essentially allows clear passage by the federal government into the private records of its choice with no requirement of probable cause or legitimate reason for doing so.

- HR 2749 will appoint the Secretary of Health and Human Services as the taskmaster in establishing a food tracing system that will require an extensive, convoluted system of tracking each item and ingredient from origin to distribution. Because the bill fails to outline the logistical procedures for how this complex task will be accomplished and how it will be paid for, it once again hands an unprecedented amount of power over to the federal government to control and tax as it sees fit in order to accomplish whatever arbitrary requirements it wishes to inflict upon our farmers and food producers.

- HR 2749 imposes grievous criminal and civil penalties, including fines of up to $100,000 for each violation, per individual, and up to 10 years in prison~naturalnews.com

Who’s worried about the patriot act now? We are rapidly approaching the point where literally nothing will be exempt from the power of the government to directly control, dictate, punish, and intervene without warrant or respect to constitutional rights. It will be an administrative matter.

‘All cost, no benefit’

What if global-warming fears are overblown?

In a Fortune interview, noted climatologist John Christy contends the green crusade to fight climate change is “all cost and no benefit.”

NEW YORK (Fortune) — With Congress about to take up sweeping climate-change legislation, expect to hear more in coming weeks from John Christy, director of the Earth System Science Center at University of Alabama-Huntsville.

A veteran climatologist who refuses to accept any research funding from the oil or auto industries, Christy was a lead author of the 2001 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report as well as one of the three authors of the American Geophysical Union’s landmark 2003 statement on climate change.

Yet despite those green-sounding credentials, Christy is not calling for draconian cuts in carbon emissions. Quite the contrary. Christy is actually the environmental lobby’s worst nightmare – an accomplished climate scientist with no ties to Big Oil who has produced reams and reams of data that undermine arguments that the earth’s atmosphere is warming at an unusual rate and question whether the remedies being talked about in Congress will actually do any good.  ~money.cnn.com

Freeman Dyson climate denier

Go forth and read of it:

For more than half a century, the eminent physicist Freeman Dyson has quietly resided in Princeton, New Jersey, on the wooded former farmland that is home to his employer, the Institute for Advanced Study, the United States’ most rarefied community of scholars. Lately, however, since he came “out of the closet as far as global warming is concerned,” as Mr. Dyson sometimes puts it, there has been noise all around him. Chat rooms, Web threads, editors’ letter boxes and Mr. Dyson’s own e-mail queue resonate with a thermal current of invective in which Mr. Dyson has discovered himself variously described as “a pompous twit,” “a cesspool of misinformation” and, perhaps inevitably, “a mad scientist.” ~iht.com

Countdown to Armageddon

This needs to be filed under, “WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!!!!”

The Prince of Wales is preparing to tell the world we have “less than 100 months to act” before the damage caused by global warming becomes irreversible. ~news.sky.com

A worldwind tour campaigning for Global Climate change. Hopping on the Royal 747 no doubt jetting from country to country sounding the alarm about how we need to cut corbon emissions or WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!! Yes, that’s the way it’s done. Hypocrisy intact.

Only 100 months to act!

Climate change = world war

The sermonizing, moralizing, demonizing, and fear mongering is getting a little old. A little? How about completely batsh*t insane? Global warming is now the cause for everything. Car doesn’t start? Global warming.  Aliens invading? Global warming. They don’t even try to justify the complete fabrications that issue from their mouths.

CAPE TOWN, South Africa – If we don’t deal with climate change decisively, “what we’re talking about then is extended world war,” the eminent economist said.

His audience Saturday, small and elite, had been stranded here by bad weather and were talking climate. They couldn’t do much about the one, but the other was squarely in their hands. And so, Lord Nicholas Stern was telling them, was the potential for mass migrations setting off mass conflict.

“Somehow we have to explain to people just how worrying that is,” the British economic thinker said. ~news.yahoo.com

I hate to say this but this is a picture of the global elite manufacturing a fake crisis in order to control more of the population and gain more power over our lives.

If we don’t do something to stop global warming then there will be world war!!! Scaremongering? Ya think?

But then if they were truly serious about stopping global warming then why first all fly private chartered jets to South Africa and then plan to then fly their private chartered jets to antarctica in order to have this meeting?

Stern, author of a major British government report detailing the cost of climate change, was one of a select group of two dozen — environment ministers, climate negotiators and experts from 16 nations — scheduled to fly to Antarctica to learn firsthand how global warming might melt its ice into the sea, raising ocean levels worldwide. ~news.yahoo.com

The amazing thing about virtually every article like this is how naked this agenda is. The baldfaced lie is contradicted by the very words used to try and deceive readers about what this story is about. Global warming is all about global redistribution of wealth. It’s about the subjegation of capitalism.

In the face of such threats, “the rich countries have to give us a helping hand,” the African minister said.

Distorting public discourse

This is rich. It’s as if Al Gore doesn’t realize that he is describing his exact method of fearmongering.

Our systematic exposure to fear and other arousal stimuli on television can be exploited by the clever public relations specialist, advertiser, or politician. Barry Glassner, a professor of sociology at the University of Southern California, argues that there are three techniques that together make up “fearmongering”: repetition, making the irregular seem regular, and misdirection. By using these narrative tools, anyone with a loud platform can ratchet up public anxieties and fears, distorting public discourse and reason. ~npr.org

Seems like Gore is admitting that he knows he is “distorting public discourse and reason.”

Al Gore Calls Myanmar Cyclone a ‘Consequence’ of Global Warming

Using tragedy to advance an agenda has been a strategy for many global warming activists, and it was just a matter of time before someone found a way to tie the recent Myanmar cyclone to global warming.

Former Vice President Al Gore in an interview on NPR’s May 6 “Fresh Air” broadcast did just that. He was interviewed by “Fresh Air” host Terry Gross about the release of his book, “The Assault on Reason,” in paperback.

“And as we’re talking today, Terry, the death count in Myanmar from the cyclone that hit there yesterday has been rising from 15,000 to way on up there to much higher numbers now being speculated,” Gore said. “And last year a catastrophic storm from last fall hit Bangladesh. The year before, the strongest cyclone in more than 50 years hit China – and we’re seeing consequences that scientists have long predicted might be associated with continued global warming.”

Incredible.

Global Warming: no sweat

Gallup poll: “Little Increase in Americans’ Global Warming Worries, Public just can’t seem to get worked up about it

Hey, the public is smarter than the social engineers think we are!

PRINCETON, NJ — While 61% of Americans say the effects of global warming have already begun, just a little more than a third say they worry about it a great deal, a percentage that is roughly the same as the one Gallup measured 19 years ago. ~gallup.com

This is a statistic that worries Al Gore. Despite the all out propaganda effort to convince people that global warming is more of a threat than the Nazi war machine and kamakazi Japanese empire put together only 40%, slightly more than the overall democrat demographic, think that it is an immediate threat.

Threat?

There has also been an uptick in the percentage of Americans who say global warming will pose a serious threat to them in their lifetimes, from 25% in 1997 to 40% today.

Even with this increase over the last 11 years, the fact remains that still less than a majority of Americans, at this point, believe global warming will pose a serious threat to them in their lifetimes. ~gallup.com

What does Al Gore and the social engineers have to do? Plant more evidence? Stage 911-style global warming attacks?

During an interview with Britain’s Sun, the former vice president seemed to offer a down-and-out update on his efforts since the release of “An Inconvenient Truth,” the documentary that won an Oscar as well as the wrath of many critics.

“The situation has not improved since I made the movie in 2006,” he told the paper, neglecting to mention that he also shared a Nobel prize during that time. “You have to ask what would it take to set off the alarm bells to make this a top-of-mind priority in the body politic.” Not melting ice at the North Pole, he added. ~thelede.blogs.nytimes.com

Political demographics have been holding fairly steady at one third Republican, one third democrat and one third other. Recent Pew Research numbers put these exact figures at 29, 33, and 38. Assuming that most Democrats have a political bias toward supporting the Global Warming hoax in order to further the liberal agenda that’s 33 percent to start- with another seven to ten percent of either Republicans or ‘others’ being duped into believing the Global Warming lies.

This will no doubt lead to more breathless, over-the-top, wild-eyed coverage hyping the immediacy of the threat and seeking to whip the gullible masses into a state of hysteria where they will rubber stamp anything done in order to counter the threat. Karl (Marx not Rove) would be proud.

After Veterans objected to Time trivializing WWII as an analogy to fighting Global Warming the Editor plainly stated his goal was not objective news but out and out propagandizing!

Richard Stengel, the managing editor of Time magazine, defended his decision by echoing Mr. Gore. “There needs to be an effort along the lines of preparing for World War Two to combat global warming and climate change,” he said.  ~thelede.blogs.nytimes.com

Faith based science

The faith based science of global warming is set to take a fall. Via Flopping Aces post…

Duffy asked Marohasy: “Is the Earth stillwarming?”

She replied: “No, actually, there has been cooling, if you take 1998 as your point of reference. If you take 2002 as your point of reference, then temperatures have plateaued. This is certainly not what you’d expect if carbon dioxide is driving temperature because carbon dioxide levels have been increasing but temperatures have actually been coming down over the last 10 years.”

Duffy: “Is this a matter of any controversy?”

Marohasy: “Actually, no. The head of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) has actually acknowledged it. He talks about the apparent plateau in temperatures so far this century. So he recognises that in this century, over the past eight years, temperatures have plateaued … This is not what you’d expect, as I said, because if carbon dioxide is driving temperature then you’d expect that, given carbon dioxide levels have been continuing to increase, temperatures should be going up … So (it’s) very unexpected, not something that’s being discussed. It should be being discussed, though, because it’s very significant.”

Duffy: “It’s not only that it’s not discussed. We never hear it, do we? Whenever there’s any sort of weather event that can be linked into the global warming orthodoxy, it’s put on the front page. But a fact like that, which is that global warming stopped a decade ago, is virtually never reported, which is extraordinary.” ~theaustralian.news.com.au
