What’s key to understanding Obama’s presidiency? He ran as a centrist, promising to unite America with promises like cutting taxes for 95% of Americans. (What do you call a ‘tax cut’ when you don’t pay any taxes?) Once elected The-One Party government has proposed zero tax cuts and quite a few tax increases and proceeded to balloon the deficit beyond any previous government.

As he reveals what his actual policies are we find more and more government intervention and takeover. Total transformation of the United States of America is his stated goal and he intends to deliver.

Let’s look at the deficit. We were told that we must elect Democrats because Bush was such a profligate spender. Democrats ran on a platform of fiscal conservatism. All lies.

You can see the Bush/Congress budgets from 2000 to 2008. Notice the tall red lines to the right starting at 2008 there. These are not Bush budgets, they are the Obama/Democrat congress budgets. The difference is exponential.

What is happening since the election of Obama and a completely Democrat controlled congress is a government completely out of control. Bankruptcy cannot be far behind. These budgets are unsustainable.

Add to this the nationalization of the auto industry, the healthcare industry, and the financial industry and what you have is the beginning of total government control of every aspect of our lives. There will be no freedom of speech to criticize your employer when it is the government providing your job. There will be no free speech at all after the government ‘bailout’ of the press. The government will own the presses.

This is the left’s top down approach to democracy and it is Obama’s method of madness. The best and the brightest make decisions and plan the economy for the benefit of all the people. In essence, the government controls the people. Since we are the government, they say, it’s all ok. But this is how socialism works, (or rather doesn’t work). This is a giant left turn off the cliff and into total government control. Total as in totalitarian. Eventually nothing is exempt from that control.

Once the government is paying for your healthcare, guess what, they will be deciding what foods you will be allowed to eat, and how much you exercise.

The left has no plans or principles that will prevent every minute detail of your life coming under the control of some government agency, basically allowing some beauracrat to step in and hassle you to death. As government takes over more areas there will be more reason to take over more. You will be fined, harrassed, monitored and eventually incarcerated if you do not do whatever some government busy body wants you to do. –And it will all be for your own good of course.

This is nothing less than slavery. But it is the change that Obama promised. This is the way he will ‘set us free’.

Kim Jong Il channels Democrats like nobody’s business. But I’m not sure if which direction the spiritual flow is going. When the left talks about Bush’s torture regime and Guantanamo it sounds an awful lot like this:

KCNA Demands Closure of U.S. Secret Prisons

Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) — The special rapporteur for torture issue of the UN Human Rights Council and the UN special envoy for human rights and anti-terrorism, addressing the recent 10th meeting of the council, declared that an international investigation would be conducted into the secret prisons operated by the United States.

They denounced the atrocities committed by the U.S. as the “most horrible acts,” asserting that they would not allow the U.S. to evade its responsibility for them with ease on account of the replacement of the U.S. administration and that the investigation should be continued till everything has been clarified.

This is a proper step taken by the international community against the U.S. which has committed ceaseless human rights abuses in different parts of the world under the signboard of “war on terrorism.”

The U.S. set up a secret prison in Guantanamo of Cuba in the wake of the “September 11 incident” and established such prisons in different countries of the world and even on warships.

It arrested many people and has kept them in custody for a long period, ruthlessly violating their freedom and human rights.

26,000 people are now detained, without having even a chance to stand a fair trial, the most elementary human rights.

They are put to beating, sleep depravation, water boarding, sexual torture and other forms of mediaeval torture. Guiltless people are disappearing without being known to the outside, while undergoing unbearable pain.

These are the hideous human rights abuses quite contrary to the humanitarian principles of modern international law including the “Geneva Convention” and international law on human rights.

Precisely for this reason the International Committee of the Red Cross in a report in 2007 defined the U.S. atrocities as “cruel and inhuman contempt of personality” and “torture.”

What merits a serious attention is that the U.S. is trying to keep the secret prisons censured by the world.

This is evidenced by the fact that the U.S. attorney general, while announcing the “new standard for the operation of the facilities for ‘suspected terrorists’” in Guantanamo on March 13, blustered that it is inevitable to operate these facilities in a way to tighten national security.

These outbursts cannot but sound very surprising as they are let loose without let-up under the pretext of “examining” the closure of the secret prison in Guantanamo.

During the office of the Bush administration the U.S. left no means untried to cover up the operation of secret prisons with such crafty words as “national security”.

The new U.S. administration is echoing such words only to reveal its intention not to close them.

The U.S. had better close as early as possible the secret prisons ill-famed for lots of human rights abuses. ~kcna.co.jp

Culture of corruption update:

By GEOFF EARLE Post Correspondent
March 11, 2009

WASHINGTON – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has gone from frequent flier to jet-aircraft connoisseur, with aides berating military officials to get the best planes, e-mails revealed yesterday.

Pelosi, who clashed with the military to get nonstop service when she flies home to California with police protection on government planes, revealed a particular fondness for Gulfstream’s sleek G-5 – a plane glamorized in Hollywood films and rap videos.

“It is my understanding there are no G-5s available for the House during the Memorial Day recess. This is totally unacceptable . . . The speaker will want to know where the planes are,” a Pelosi aide wrote in an angry e-mail to the military. ~nypost.com

These people are out of control. Mitch McConnell says they are spending $1 Billion dollars an hour!

“In just 50 days, Congress has voted to spend about $1.2 trillion between the Stimulus and the Omnibus,” McConnell says. “To put that in perspective, that’s about $24 billion a day, or about $1 billion an hour—most of it borrowed. There’s simply no question: government spending has spun out of control.” ~politico.com

So what it begins to look like is that all these years that Democrats were using spending as a cudgel against republicans the reality is that the precense of the GOP in power was actually holding back Democrats from spending like drunken sailors (which is in fact an insult to drunken sailors everywhere).

This is how the left would destroy America. The left seeks to use the government to take over more aspects of our economy in the name of fairness, equality and class warfare. This creates fully predictable side-effects however as supply and demand are not legislated forces as they believe. Once the government creates these shortages, shocks, and short-circuits of the market they in turn claim that this state of affairs requires them to take more control and so on.

CARACAS, Venezuela — Faced with shortages of foods, building materials and other staples, President Hugo Chávez is intensifying state control of the Venezuelan economy through a new wave of takeovers of private companies and the creation of government-controlled ventures with allies like Cuba and Iran.

The moves come just months after voters rejected a referendum to give the president sweeping constitutional power over the economy and public institutions, leading to new accusations that Mr. Chávez is more interested in consolidating power than in fixing Venezuela’s problems. ~nytimes.com

It’s a slippery slope we have so far avoided but that doesn’t mean that it can’t happen here. In fact Chavez is betting that it will happen here which is why he wants Obama to win.

Call me sentimental, but I still regard our armed forces with reverence and awe rather than with disgust and feelings of revulsion. I believe most Americans would agree. Perhaps this is why leftist-liberal propaganda films flop at the box office.

I’m talking about this clueless and insulting article at Time.com (to both audiences and the troops).

The author mentions how tough it is for far-leftist-liberal Hollywood, “to turn this war into edifying entertainment for the mass audience.” How tough could it be?

…there’s a slew of American movies on the subject: In the Valley of Elah, The Kingdom, Rendition, Lions for Lambs and Redacted–and soon, Badland, Grace Is Gone and Charlie Wilson’s War. Most are worthy; some feature Oscar-winning actors and directors. And so far, all show how tough it is to turn this war into edifying entertainment for the mass audience. ~time.com

Obviously, it’s pretty damn hard for liberals to make edifying war movies. But then we know they would have an easier time making movies about the glorious revolution of Hugo Chavez. (Minus the creation of AK-47 factories and the closing of media outlets who dissent from Chavez’s dictatorship.) Their ideologically colored glasses won’t allow them to see anything heroic, useful, or dramatic in this war (or our soldiers). And unfortunately they think that audiences are too stupid to realize that they should revel in the anti-american education the left is trying to give them.

But quality, or lack of it, was irrelevant to audiences. They avoided both films like summer school. ~time.com

Imagine that. Why won’t American audiences take their medicine?

As a critic, I give the Iraq films now in release passing marks for good intentions and audiences an incomplete for poor attendance. ~time.com

What this film critic brings to light is the incredible disadvantage that Hollywood labors under. That is, the albatross of their own liberal anti-american politics. With films like Lions for Lambs and Redacted filmmakers seem to have reached the nadir of their preachy influence. Americans stubbornly refuse to convert to the ‘New Patriotism’ which looks a great deal like old fashioned treason and subversion but is now marketed by progressives as, “dissent,” the new and highest form of patriotism.

For example, a host of liberals will accept nothing less than defeat in war for American troops. Murtha (and Obama) says that our criminals, uh, I mean, rapist cold-blooded murderers, er, American soldiers can’t win this war. Harry Reid said the war was lost a long time ago.

All hail the new patriotism! Long may she waive.

GALLUP NEWS SERVICE

PRINCETON, NJ — A new Gallup Poll finds Congress’ approval rating the lowest it has been since Gallup first tracked public opinion of Congress with this measure in 1974. Just 18% of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing, while 76% disapprove, according to the August 13-16, 2007, Gallup Poll. ~galluppoll.com

Pelosi and Reid are just laying low, waiting for the right time to pounce. Pretending to be the worst congress ever but ready in an instant to recover their populist popularity and destroy their political opponents. It’s opossum time… play dead until it’s time to sucker punch BushCo and Halliburton!

Wait, when was the last time congressional approval was this low?

That 18% job approval rating matches the low recorded in March 1992, when a check-bouncing scandal was one of several scandals besetting Congress, leading many states to pass term limits measures for U.S. representatives (which the Supreme Court later declared unconstitutional). Congress had a similarly low 19% approval rating during the energy crisis in the summer of 1979. ~galluppoll.com

Ouch. Perhaps there’s such a thing as lying too low. On the upside, I can’t wait until the next election.

Jefferson Likely to Keep Panel Seat

Louisianan Expected to Stay on Small Business Despite FBI Probe By Jennifer Yachnin
Roll Call Staff
April 26, 2007

House Democratic leaders are not expected to pressure embattled Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.) to forfeit his lone remaining committee assignment, even as two Republican lawmakers who similarly face intense FBI scrutiny have relinquished their posts in recent days. ~rollcall.com

Cleaning up congress has been priority number one for Pelosi and Reid, even as they line up the lobbyists with their bags of cash. You see, Democrats true criticism of Republicans for their supposed culture of corruption was not that they (the GOP) were corrupt, but that they were amateurs.

Thus Nancy Pelosi actually said, “Move over busters, let the professional ‘politicians’ show you how graft and bribery are really done!”

Caucus of corruption

What’s more corrupt than writing and advocating laws so that you can control vitually everything about our lives and then telling us that we are evil and corrupt for not wanting to give it to them!

Well, we know what Democrats will be doing every day until the 2008 election. Attacking, smearing, accusing, belittling, impeaching, insulting, assaulting, and generally throwing a daily tantrum until their enemies are destroyed. Al Qaeda? No, conservatives.

What a way to climb to power, eh? Through a death of a thousand cuts and a drumbeat of defeat.

The Bushies Lied About Tillman and Lynch

Man arrested in threat on GOP official

A man has been arrested in connection with an incident earlier this month, when someone pressed a rifle to the face of a Nevada Republican Party official and threatened to “take action” if President George W. Bush vetoed a particular piece of legislation. ~fox5vegas.com

Declare defeat and legislate surrender, that’s the road to power in post Vietnam America.

We’re going to pick up Senate seats as a result of this war. Senator Schumer has shown me numbers that are compelling and astounding.

~Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, April 12.

It is axiomatic to say that Democrats are invested in our defeat. But why? They voted for the war. The reason is that they see political advantage in it. Democrats believed Bush, not because he played them like a Stradivarius, but because they believed their own intelligence. Bush said nothing that was not already known. Democrats voted to authorize the war because they believed that it was necessary according to the best intelligence of the time. Or did they?

I’m at the point where I just don’t care anymore. As far as I’m concerned Bush should nominate a Democrat for Veep and then step down. Good luck. Edwards perhaps. He says he’s for defeat, let him own it. It’s easy to talk about how we need to surrender, perhaps Democrats need to be in power so that they can root for America again. If that is the only way to heal this divided nation then perhaps Republicans should just sit out the next election for the good of the country.

But then would Democrats truly unite the country? Or would they set about consolidating their power and grinding their political enemies into the dust so that they never again pose a threat their power? I suspect the latter would be the case.

And why would I believe that, you might ask? Because ‘cooperation not competition’ is not the true philosophy of liberals or the left. They don’t believe in getting along with those who disagree. They believe in getting their way. They don’t believe in compromise, they believe in dissent. They believe that those who stand in their way do so out of malice and hate, not honest disagreement.

The great irony is that those who rail against hegemony the most do so because it is the wrong kind of hegemony, not because they are against the idea of hegemony in the slightest.

So after uniting with Bush on the authorization for war Democrats set about opposing the war once it had been set in motion. The idea that you would authorize an action and then demonize the one you gave approval to (to do the action) is perverse but no longer unexpected.

In retrospect, the signs of discord and division were there long before any policy like the Iraq war. The 2000 election itself was reason enough. But Democrats were actually blaming Bush for 9/11. And still do! How I thought that the Iraq war would be any different, I don’t know.

Better a dry crust with peace and quiet
than a house full of feasting, with strife.

~Proverbs 17:1
