The faith based science of global warming is set to take a fall. Via Flopping Aces post…

Duffy asked Marohasy: “Is the Earth stillwarming?”

She replied: “No, actually, there has been cooling, if you take 1998 as your point of reference. If you take 2002 as your point of reference, then temperatures have plateaued. This is certainly not what you’d expect if carbon dioxide is driving temperature because carbon dioxide levels have been increasing but temperatures have actually been coming down over the last 10 years.”

Duffy: “Is this a matter of any controversy?”

Marohasy: “Actually, no. The head of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) has actually acknowledged it. He talks about the apparent plateau in temperatures so far this century. So he recognises that in this century, over the past eight years, temperatures have plateaued … This is not what you’d expect, as I said, because if carbon dioxide is driving temperature then you’d expect that, given carbon dioxide levels have been continuing to increase, temperatures should be going up … So (it’s) very unexpected, not something that’s being discussed. It should be being discussed, though, because it’s very significant.”

Duffy: “It’s not only that it’s not discussed. We never hear it, do we? Whenever there’s any sort of weather event that can be linked into the global warming orthodoxy, it’s put on the front page. But a fact like that, which is that global warming stopped a decade ago, is virtually never reported, which is extraordinary.” ~theaustralian.news.com.au

The climate war is lost and the proposed pan-civilizational ‘surge’ against anthropogenic global warming will fail. We should pull out all of our (scientific) troops now.

Why is the Climate War doomed to fail, you ask? Answer: It’s a war based on lies. And poorly planned to boot.

I can’t help but think that this sounds awefully familiar.

The war in Iraq “is lost” and a US troop surge is failing to bring peace to the country, the leader of the Democratic majority in the US Congress, Harry Reid, said Thursday. “I believe … that this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything, as is shown by the extreme violence in Iraq this week,” Reid told journalists. ~breitbart.com

Sadly, Democrats have no shame and no moral aversion to defeating America. Which is coincidentally why the Climate Surge will fail as well.

But how can I say that we’ve already lost the climate war and should just surrender? Well, as Harry Reid puts it, we will just fail in the end so why bother? Continuing to fight the climate war will just increase the casualties.

But Reid drew a parallel with former US president Lyndon Johnson who decided to deploy more troops in Vietnam some 40 years ago when 24,000 US troops had already been killed.

“Johnson did not want a war loss on his watch, so he surged in Vietnam. After the surge was over, we added 34,000 to the 24,000 who died in Vietnam,” Reid said. ~breitbart.com

The climate war: a war based on lies

Bad intelligence, flawed assumptions, cherry-picking climate data, and an enviro-religious-ideological bent has led to the perfect storm of lies, damn lies and statistics.

As I have previously pointed out, the Global Warming War-Mongers refuse to acknowledge any evidence that contradicts their rush to war. Previous scientific facts have conveniently been ‘revised’ into non-existence. It is now heresy to even mention the Medieval Warming Period. Heresy is heresy after all.

The unprecedented historical record:

Propaganda is a wonderful thing. Even when it’s in the service of the global warming religion. But what happens when the propaganda gimmick is exposed? Do the ‘consensus’ scientists apologize or do they ignore it?

Last year [2006] was the warmest in the continental United States in the past 112 years — capping a nine-year warming streak “unprecedented in the historical record” that was driven in part by the burning of fossil fuels, the government reported yesterday.

…”People should be concerned about what we are doing to the climate,” said Jay Lawrimore, chief of the climate monitoring branch of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. “Burning of fossil fuels is causing an increase in greenhouse gases, and there’s a broad scientific consensus that is producing climate change.” ~washingtonpost.com

When the ‘hottest year on record’ is trumpeted from the housetops as being 2006, and this ‘fact’ is held out as proof, they say, that global warming is real and happening now, but then when the data is found to be faulty and 1934 apparently is the hottest year of the century they whisper the correction on the back pages and say it makes no difference– this is how we know that those who push the global warming agenda will make the facts fit their agenda everytime, regardless of the data.

It should also give one pause to review the actual condition and environment around our nation’s weather stations (not to mention Europe’s) and wonder how corrupted the original climate data is even before they try to manipulate it.

But Anthony Watts of Chico, Calif., suspects NOAA temperature readings are not all they’re cracked up to be. As the former TV meteorologist explains on his sophisticated, newly hatched Web site surfacestations.org, he has set out to do what big-time armchair-climate modelers like Hansen and no one else has ever done – physically quality-check each weather station to see if it’s being operated properly.

To assure accuracy, stations (essentially older thermometers in little four-legged wooden sheds or digital thermometers mounted on poles) should be 100 feet from buildings, not placed on hot concrete, etc. But as photos on Watts’ site show, the station in Forest Grove, Ore., stands 10 feet from an air-conditioning exhaust vent. In Roseburg, Ore., it’s on a rooftop near an AC unit. In Tahoe, Calif., it’s next to a drum where trash is burned.

Watts, who says he’s a man of facts and science, isn’t jumping to any rash conclusions based on the 40-some weather stations his volunteers have checked so far. But he said Tuesday that what he’s finding raises doubts about NOAA’s past and current temperature reports. ~pittsburghlive.com

The fact that these climate scientists refuse to disclose and make available the algorithms and software they use to model climate data and make their predictions (and pronouncements of doom) is evidence that they are in fact skewing the data to fit their end result.

We are told by the ‘consensus’ that capitalism and industry are responsible for global warming to a 99.9% certainty. And yet they are 100% wrong about their primary propaganda tool, “the hottest year on record.” What other hidden facts used to force ‘total consensus’ is wrong?

Possibly the lamest Democratic candidate for President… ever. John Edwards is as about as genuine as a three dollar bill. Perhaps he should hand them out at stops on his poverty tour?

Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards launched his bid for the White House last December in New Orleans’ devastated Ninth Ward. Since then, the former North Carolina senator has pinned his campaign largely on ending poverty in America. This weekend, Edwards returns to New Orleans, where he will begin a 12-city tour through poor America. The journey mirrors the famous 1968 tour of impoverished areas by then-senator and presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy. ~npr.org

My contrarian senses tell me that the subconscious message of John, “The Future is Now,” Edwards’ poverty tour, ie the “Road to One America,” is that his ultimate goal is to promote poverty as the radical solution to the inherent inequality of the, “two America’s,” …as well as the devastating effect the overbearing capitalist over-consuming country is having on the globe by singlehandedly devastating the world with global warming.

What are the odds that Edwards isn’t actually the perfect example of the worst stereotype of lawyers as conniving manipulating shysters?

First there is the exploitation of his wife’s cancer. Ahhh, great press coverage which dies down eventually. Then they engineer a press release ready ambush of Ann Coulter for the hard core left base. Boom, instant coverage and left blog hurrahs. But for some reason Edwards is still not number one n the polls.

How to get noticed? Well, there’s always postal and bomb scares. Surely the prospect that hateful right wingers are trying to assasinate you before you become the greatest liberal President ever will be like a call to arms to all the left to rise up and begin the revolution. Workers of the world unite!

Chapel Hill — Thursday marked the second postal scare in four months at John Edwards’ campaign headquarters in Chapel Hill.

Both incidents proved to be harmless, but for businesses in Southern Village, Edwards’ headquarters is becoming more of a nuisance. ~wral.com

“Look at me! I’m a threat to the rabid right-wing haters!”

It will be interesting to find out where the FBI investigation leads. Because we know that within the mind of the Edwards conservatives are right-wing fascist nazi’s who do just this kind of thing because of their vile hatred of all that is right, true and moral. Look, I’m just suspicious, that’s all. It just seems a little too ‘Munchausen syndrome’ to me.

When we look at the, “Road to One America,” what are we talking about here. Massive liberal plagiarism. Can’t Edwards come up with his own ideas instead of cobbling together all the golden oldies of the left? Hasn’t the War on Poverty already been fought …and apparently lost?

Chapel Hill, North Carolina — As part of his ongoing effort to end poverty in America, Senator John Edwards will travel to 8 states next week on a “Road to One America” tour to shine a bright spotlight on what he calls “the great moral issue of our time.” As part of the tour, Edwards will use a variety of innovative multimedia and online tools to engage and energize Americans from across the country in the fight against poverty. ~johnedwards.com

Yet another War on Poverty, with all the same liberal methods, tactics, and failed strategies that characterized the previous failed War on Poverty is likely to yeild the same results. Aren’t we told daily by Democrats that it’s folly not to change strategy in a failed war?

War in Sudan? Genocide in Darfur? Could be the fault of Islamists engaged in jihad. You know, the indiscrimnate slaughter and killing of christians and non-muslims in order to purge the land of unbelievers… uh, — OR — it could be the fault of,“climate change.” And we all know who’s mostly responsible for that.

WASHINGTON – Climate change is partly to blame for the conflict in Sudan’s Darfur region, where droughts have provoked fighting over water sources, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in an editorial published Saturday. ~news.yahoo.com

What we have here is a failure to ‘cognitate’. Unfortunately, this failure is widespread among democrats and the left.

“Almost invariably, we discuss Darfur in a convenient military and political shorthand — an ethnic conflict pitting Arab militias against black rebels and farmers,” Ban wrote in The Washington Post. “Look to its roots, though, and you discover a more complex dynamic.” ~news.yahoo.com

The roots of climate change? Or the roots of the conflict in Darfur? The roots of jihad is apparently the human (mostly American caused) climate change –because we all know that islamic terrorism doesn’t exist, so there must be another explanation. There must be a whole other Global War we could focus our attention on as leftists in order to aviod dealing with Bush’s War on Terror.

It’s not possible that the most obvious explanation, the one that actually makes sense, is true…

Rainfall in Sudan began declining two decades ago, a phenomenon due “to some degree, from man-made global warming,” said Ban, who has made both Darfur and climate change priorities.

Settled farmers and Arab nomadic herders had gotten along until the drought, he wrote, but as conditions worsened, water and food shortages disrupted the peace and “evolved into the full-fledged tragedy we witness today.”

Ban said similar ecological problems are behind conflicts in other countries, including Somalia and Ivory Coast. ~news.yahoo.com

The Climate Battle is a War that liberals are ready to fight. Till the finish! What we are witnessing today is the Climate Surge.

Prince Charles compared the challenge of tackling climate change to the Allies’ struggle in World War II… ~breitbart.com

Another blow to the already dubious practice of inbreeding. Such stupidity cannot be normal.

Climate change lunatics have several major things in common. A loose grasp of reality is the number one commonality.

Addressing representatives from firms including Barclays Bank, British Airways and Rolls-Royce at Saint James’s Palace, Charles said that “we need to act very rapidly indeed” to avert environmental disaster.

“We can do it, just think what they did in the last war. Things that seemed impossible were achieved almost overnight,” the heir to the throne added. ~breitbart.com

The ‘Climate Change Battle’ is just as bad as the war on poverty or the War against Drugs.

UPDATE!

Sacrifices must be made in the battle against the fascist change of climate!

Earlier this year, Charles canceled a regular skiing holiday to Switzerland as part of an effort to reduce the number of jet flights he takes. He has said he will publish details of his lifestyle’s impact on the environment in this summer’s annual review of his accounts.  ~usatoday.com

I am impressed with this extreme measure in helping in the all-out war against the forces of Nazi Global Warming. I think I will cancel all, yes ALL, of my future skiing holiday trips to Switzerland! Go team!

Sheryl Crow and Laurie David, on their Global Warming hysteria tour, have helpfully proved the adage that it is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool rather than open it and dispell any doubt.

First they attacked Karl Rove at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which begins to look more like a well planned publicity stunt rather than a sincere effort to pursuade Karl Rove that Global Warming is real, then Crow announced that your use of toilet paper should be policed in some manner.

If you didn’t already know Crow and David are on tour to ‘raise awareness’ about global warming. What better way to garner attention for your awareness tour than to attack Karl Rove as a rude evil bastard? It’s nothing more than politics as a marketing vehicle.

Still, it is Crow’s proposed solutions to global warming that I find most instructive.

Crow has suggested using “only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where two to three could be required”.

The 45-year-old, who made the comments on her website, has just toured the US on a biodiesel-powered bus to raise awareness about climate change. ~news.bbc.co.uk

One, two, or three squares? Is that even sanitary? I can’t imagine using only a single square of toilet paper. What kind of ‘paper’ is she using? A single square of normal everyday tiolet paper, at least the kind available to us proletariat types, is utterly useless for the job, unless you don’t mind getting expletive deleted all over your hand.

Which makes me think that the picture that accompanies this BBC story is more than coincidence and says something about Crow’s use, or lack thereof, of tiolet paper. It also says a great deal about both the use, or lack thereof, of Crow’s reasoning abilities. Exactly how does Crow think that such a proposal is to be enforced?

“Although my ideas are in the earliest stages of development, they are, in my mind, worth investigating.

“I propose a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting.” ~news.bbc.co.uk

Shall we dare ponder how the toilet paper police will monitor your TP usage? Perhaps the least intrusive way might be to simply place cameras in every bathroom everywhere. I can’t imagine the number of new officers it would take for there to be an officer there in-person to monitor your TP usage, unless they would also just happen to be monitoring an all-encompassing range of other lifestyle choices as well. Such as your eating habits, sexual practices, manners, word choice, travel arrangements… but perhaps that is the ultimate goal here. What part of life should not be limited in order to save the planet?

The sad truth is that this is what Global Warming is truly about. It’s not about saving the planet at all. It’s about advancing the liberal and leftist agenda. Just as climate change convert Catherine Lerza of the Tides Foundation explains:

Global warming is not simply an environmental issue. It is an economic issue, a social justice issue, a lifestyle issue. It’s about race, class and democratic participation. It’s about globalization and global democracy. It’s about national security and global security. ~alternet.org

Global warming is the penultimate liberal boogeyman, (second only to Bush perhaps), precisely because without a crisis of some sort liberal policies don’t make any sense. In what reality does regulating toilet paper usage to a single square “per sitting” make any sense whatsoever? None. And yet this is where liberal ideology and absolute self-absorbtion can take you.

Global Warming is a means to an end. It is a propaganda vehicle for progressives worldwide.

The social engineers have not put away their plans or tabled their intense desire to remake the world in the image of their idoelogy. They have merely had to camoflage and retool their rhetoric. Where once they would have fomented revolution in the name of the working class against capital they now foment revolution in the name of the environment against capital.

The goal is nevertheless to control society completely, extensively, and ‘holistically’.

What you are describing is a profound overhaul of American economics and culture. In this sense, addressing the problem of climate change gives us an opportunity to build a lifestyle that’s more in accordance with our values, right?  ~alternet.org

If you have a working intelligence, “Protesting the sun’s rising,” should sound like an ignorant statement. But then so should the phrase, “Thousands Protest Climate Change Across the Country.” –the title of an actual article.

Today, 1,400 actions are taking place in all 50 states in the country’s largest protest against global warming. ~alternet.org

Of course it makes perfect sense when you realize that they are not protesting the seasons or the laws of physics. They are protesting a political system. They are protesting capitalism.

ALL THE evidence suggests that global warming is caused overwhelmingly by burning fossil fuels such as oil. Despite the looming threat of worldwide catastrophe, the occupation of Iraq shows that the US government is determined to control the world’s oil in order to secure it as a long-term source of energy.

Not for the first time, US President George W Bush has made it absolutely clear that the profits of the big corporations, particularly oil companies like ExxonMobil, come first. ~socialistparty.org.uk

This is the quintessential global warming argument. As well as the overwhelming leftist sentiment about Iraq. “It’s a war for oil.”

But Al Gore won’t go into the rest of the global warming propaganda– the solution to be implemented once the ball is rolling downhill and practically impossible to stop.

Global warming is an important issue for socialists and anti-capitalists, not only for the obvious reason that we have a long-term interest in the future of the planet, but because the poor are hit hardest by its effects.

Also democratic socialist planning, although never mentioned in the mainstream eco-debate, is the answer to the environmental destruction wreaked by the capitalist market system. ~socialistparty.org.uk

Oh yeah, that’s right, “democratic socialist planning, although never mentioned in the mainstream eco-debate, is the answer to the environmental destruction wreaked by the capitalist market system.”

Is it obvious that democratic socialist planning is the answer to global warming? Of course it is.

In order to curb the process of global warming there must be a change in the means of energy production on a world scale, from oil and coal to more efficient sources such as solar power. If no societal restrictions were placed on human development, this in itself would certainly be a solvable problem. Already the basic technology exists that would allow for such a change. In a capitalist society, however, the main stimulus for change is not concern for human or environmental welfare, but rather the continual drive for profit.  ~wsws.org

It’s so simple.

The earth is in danger. So why do New York City liberals insist on destroying our planet?

(NEW YORK) —New York City produces nearly 1 percent of the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions — an amount that puts it on par with Ireland or Portugal — according to a city study.

…The study found that the buildings, subways, buses, cars and decomposition of waste in America’s most populous city produced a net emission of 58.3 million metric tons of greenhouse gases in 2005. The report said the city’s emissions “are currently as much as those of Ireland or Portugal.” ~time.com

So when can we expect those who live in New York to put their money where their mouth is? I expect that by this time next year NY will look like Bejing, with bicycles everywhere. That New Yorkers will stop using their electrical appliances and do without their water heaters and air conditioners, etc. And most importantly, liberals will forego their limosuines and walk!

After all we have less than ten years left before the irreversible apocolypse.

Where’s the guilt? I demand an apology.

Unless of course the perveyors of global warming propaganda were to admit that perhaps the variable input of the sun might have something to do with climate change. I find it absolutely bizarre that global warming advocates completely refute any such link whatsoever. It just shows that the issue is more politics than science.

Notice a key phrase in this article titled, “Sunspot activity impacts on crop success.”

Periods of low sunspot activity corresponded to peaks in the price of wheat, indicating a lower crop yield. This backs the idea that the solar cycle affects climate and crop yields on Earth, possibly by changing levels of cloud cover.

Now the team has done a similar analysis for wheat prices in the US during the 20th century. They did not expect to see a sunspot connection due to modern technologies that make crops more robust in unfavourable weather, globalised markets and massive economic disruption during two world wars.

But surprisingly, they did find a link between numbers of sunspots and the price of wheat. ~newscientist.com

Sunspots influencing levels of cloud cover? Say it aint so. Surely capitalist and or industrial activity creates these sunspots, no?

What is the consensus?

Another trend scientists have picked up on appears to span several centuries. Late 17th century astronomers observed that no sunspots existed on the Sun’s surface during the time period from 1650 to 1715 AD. This lack of solar activity, which some scientists attribute to a low point in a multiple-century-long cycle, may have been partly responsible for the Little Ice Age in Europe. During this period, winters in Europe were much longer and colder than they are today. Modern scientists believe that since this minimum in solar energy output, there has been a slow increase in the overall sunspots and solar energy throughout each subsequent 11-year cycle.

It’s almost too obvious. Reckless. Even incredibly transparent. But the real question is– is it working?

An unparallelled propaganda campaign, unrivaled in the history of civilization, is intended to make man-imputed global warming an undisputed fact without having to actually prove it. Repetition replaces truth.

All it takes to generate literally hundreds of stories (the effect of syndication to be sure) pushing the global warming agenda is yet another proclamation from a group, panel, or team engaged in ‘studying’ the effect of man’s destruction of the earth. Professional global warming ‘experts’. Surely there’s no conflict of interest there at all.

Earth faces a grim future if global warming isn’t slowed, U.N. report says

A new global warming report issued today by the United Nations paints a near-apocalyptic vision of the Earth’s future if temperatures continue to rise unabated: more than a billion people in desperate need of water, extreme food shortages in Africa and elsewhere, a blighted landscape ravaged by fires and floods, and millions of species sentenced to extinction. ~latimes.com

And wouldn’t you know it, here’s the old journalism stand-by: “Women and children hardest hit.”

The devastating effects will strike all regions of the world and all levels of society, but it will be those without the resources to adapt to the coming changes who will suffer the greatest impact, the report said. ~latimes.com

The New York Times:

BRUSSELS, April 6 — From the poles to the tropics, the earth’s climate and ecosystems are already being shaped by the atmospheric buildup of greenhouse gases and face inevitable, possibly profound, alteration, the world’s leading scientific panel on climate change said Friday.

“World’s leading scientific panel on climate change…” Just how many are there?

Then there’s the ridiculous. Witnessing global warming? Witnessing?

Climbers Witnessing Global Warming

(Bend, Ore.) — Mountaineers are bringing back firsthand accounts of vanishing glaciers, melting ice routes, crumbling rock formations and flood-prone lakes where glaciers once rose. ~time.com

How much hotter is it, really? Melting ice.

What happens when you disagree with the propaganda consensus? Simply pointing out the hypocrisy of Al Gore’s carbon footprint brings out the best in those who fear of the planet’s emminent demise.

Leftist hate: Gore fans abuse, threaten Gore foes

…”I was accused several times of being a ‘stupid, redneck bitch,’” recalls Nicole Williams, who fielded numerous calls. “I repeatedly was called a ‘whore’ and asked ‘Whose whore are you?’ for three days straight, almost as if those were talking points … I was shocked by these sexist insults _ basically attacking my gender.”

The calls continued beyond Williams’ Nashville office.

“I had to change my home number and get an unlisted number,” Williams says.

“I got about 10 death threats by phone. I got the ‘I’m gonna get you’-type threats more than 100 times … I worried I would get shot walking to my car.”

Williams discovered her obsolete address posted online. “If they could find my old home address, it would not be so hard to find a current one.”

Gore’s defenders also spewed venomous e-mails. They sent the research center nearly 3,000 Gore-related messages that exhibited the very bigotry the Left routinely denounces. Warning: These offensive, often-vulgar, and occasionally unschooled comments reveal the vitriol behind much of today’s “progressive” rhetoric.

_ Many e-mails displayed Dixiephobia _ an intense disdain for the South and Southerners.

“Why don’t you all go back to shooting one another across the hollows instead of trying to make people think anyone in Tennessee has an ounce of intelligence?” Roger Miller insisted. “Get your snaggle tooth grins capped and learn to read and write.”

“W.T.F. difference would it make if he was (sic) using 1000 times more energy than the average household if it came from clean energy?” Thomas Grinnell wondered. “Don’t think about that too much. It will give your southern mullet a headache.”

“You really should concentrate on what Southerners do best,” D. Hunter advised. “Sodomizing and impregnating little children!”

Christopher LaBarge declared: “I hope you all die slowly and have your hearts and brains trampled to pieces you small-minded, ignorant, backwoods ideologues.”

“We should have flattened the South when we had the chance!” wrote Mount Laurel, New Jersey’s Robert Dodelin. “If ever you confederates (sic) want to leave the Union please do. We Nothen (sic) states would love to stop having to subsidize you with our tax dollars.”  ~scrippsnews.com
